Issue 3 - 12/07/06

Dear Members and Friends,

Welcome to this new edition of EYBA's Letter from the President!

I write on behalf of the European Young Bar Association to raise your awareness of an important event taking place in Belgrade, Serbia from Friday 23rd- Sunday 25th March 2007. The Young Lawyers of Serbia are holding their inaugural Belgrade International Legal Week with an exciting programme of events, both social and professional, as well as celebrating the achievements of the new generation of Serbian young lawyers.

The EYBA is pleased to attend this event and to ask you all to do so also. There is an extensive social programme, focusing on the energetic lifestyle of young Serbians, and the famous riverboat culture of the capital city, Belgrade. The lectures are no less compelling, focusing on honest debate on issues that should of interest to all.

My colleague, Labud Raznatovic, together with Milan Bajic, have personally worked extremely hard with an enthusiastic team of young lawyers to open the door to this country with a fascinating history and a desire to join the new Europe with all the commercial opportunities that it provides. I urge all EYBA Members to attend and enclose the Registration Form and Flyer which sets out the programme of events for you to follow.

Copies will also be circulated at our event in Belfast, the ‘craic’ for which is growing- don’t miss out on either event!

We are also drawing up the speaker programme for the AGM in Rome25th May-26th May 2007, and I welcome suggestions for this also. Our Italian colleagues will be happy to tell you about the event as they have travelled from the 'Eternal City' to join us for St. Patrick's Day.

Finally: if Members would like to propose topics for discussion at the European Committee then they are welcome to drop me a line at the usual address so even if they are not coming to either Belfast or Serbia, they can stay involved.
Best wishes

Ben RIGBY
